After the decision to not indict the NYPD officer who was filmed killing Staten Island resident Eric Garner caused protests around New York City last night. This morning, New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio joined Hot 97‘s “Ebro In The Morning” show to discuss the case and what he will do going forward to make sure this won’t happen again! De Blasio spoke openly about the case and racism in America. These were his words. . .
“I don’t judge any judicial proceeding, I don’t judge any investigation that I am not a part of,” said the Mayor. “I watched a video of a human being and I saw a man die who shouldn’t have died. I saw him crying out for his life and that made me feel horribly wrong and it’s something that can’t happen again.”
The Mayor went on to discuss what it’s like raising his son, who is a young black man and the importance of voting, the NYPD’s training, “Stop And Frisk,” how body cameras will work and much more. Listen to the audio below.
